Artist Statement
My pottery seeks to fill empty spaces through its functionality, whether it's a cup curved perfectly in your hand, a planter for that blank wall spot, or bowls fit for any meal. My home is largely occupied by items I use every single day, so I strive to create with purpose distinctly in mind.Though wheel-throwing has held my heart the longest, I have a soft spot for mold making and slip casting and the endless possibilities it provides. I have been using white-fired clay for the past several years but began my clay journey with terracotta. I love how tan and brown clay interacts with glaze, and I am currently exploring new clay bodies from my local supplier to expand my work's palette.
